Homepage launch

Welcome to my space on the internet! Here I launch my very own homepage dedicated to my photography. It's been a long time in the making and it took a lot of thinking, sorting, curating, writing and another round of curating. I hope that my photos and words are congruent, that whoever lands on this page can grasp the stories I want to tell and that my artistic visions comes across.

I've chosen todays's date as launch date because this date marks two years with my Nikon Zfc camera. During those two years there were only very few days when I didn't pick it up. To honour my trusty camera I’ll feature nine self portraits taken between 2023-2025 that I like below.

And since there is no gear talk on my homepage I figured I'll let my visitors know what I am shooting with, at least in this first blog post.

All photographs seen on this page were created with a Nikon Zfc camera. 90% of the photos were created with three prime lenses, 24, 28 and 35mm (which on my camera's sensor is equivalent to 35, 43 and 52mm). The 24mm (=35 in full frame) is my go-to focal length, it’s practially glued to the camera. For a time I used two zoom lenses, 18-55 and 18-85mm, but I like the artistic limitation that comes with a prime lens so I stopped using the zooms for now. A good number of frames from my "Bright Lights, Big City"-series were created with an older Nikon manual focus 60mm lens (=90mm full frame), which I obtained to create more abstract works. I plan to eventually upgrade to Nikon Zf (full frame) and spend more time with a 28mm lens on the street in order to fill my frames with complex layers and stories.

I often can't resist the contrasts and colours that I get when using a cirular polarisation filter so that's a piece of equipment I always have with me. I rarely use a tri-pod and always have a backpack with me anyway because I never leave the house without a book, a bottle of water and emergency pain killers for head-aches.

That's about it for gear. I rather spend my money on travelling and books that’s why you find me firmly in the "gear doesn't matter"-camp so don't expect much of this type of content here.
